Woodland Wellbeing Sessions
Why should the kids have all the fun?
Our vibe here is that forest school is for everyone and we've got quite a bit of experience getting people off their screens and into the woods for a few hours. It’s a brilliant way to spend an afternoon and great for your mental health too.
Child-free forest sessions…
Throughout the year we run adult only sessions in Glasgow’s city woodlands. Our aim is to give people a taste of what it’s like to get into the woods more regularly and help you experience what it’s like for your health, mental wellbeing, and to encourage that part of you that wants to connect with nature.

Each session follows this routine:
Meeting and walking to the camp location together.
Short introduction to the site and the session from your leader.
Chance to participate in the offerings for the session which may include:
a hand craft activity such as whittling or making something out of natural materials
a fire-based activity a small snack to cook on the fire and/or a cup of tea.
A nature connection activity which could be a led meditation, or a sit spot
We’ll then close the session and walk back to the meeting point together.

Yes, these sessions are designed for people to be able to come along themselves and you will be met with a warm smile and friendly faces when you arrive.
-
That’s ok, each session is led by a trained Forest and Outdoor Woodland Leader, who is PVG checked and used to working in public greenspaces with people who have little experience of being outdoors or in natural environments.
We will do our best to put you at ease on the day, but if you have any more questions or want to chat about it drop us a message.
-
The benefits of being outside are widely documented but here’s some the benefits we get when we lead these sessions:
Deeper sleep the night after being on a session
Regulated nervous systems - feeling relaxed
Increased confidence
Increased positive self-esteem and sense of achievement
Increased mobility
Increased sense of connection to people and nature
Increased understanding of natural world, seasonal and climate change
Reduced desire to be on screens
Reduced unhelpful thoughts
Relaxed muscles
Reduced worry
-
We are sorry that the location we use is not accessible for wheelchairs at this time due to storm damage and path degradation.
-
No, there are no toilets at the location, please go before you come and be prepared to do a wild wee if you need one.
-
We love dogs but not everyone does. To avoid the chance that your dog is on a session with someone who has a fear of dogs - please ask before booking.
The site we visit is a wildlife sanctuary (we’ve seen a few different animals born there), so if your dog comes along, they’ll need to be kept on a lead.
-
Here are a few things we’d ask you to agree to before you come:
No picking, harvesting, cutting or destroying of plants, trees or animals unless as part of a planned activity by the leader.
You don’t have to be friends with everyone but please be friendly.
Give people space if you doubt they want to interact - sometimes people struggle to communicate.
If you need space, please be clear and tell the leader you’re taking it.
No alcohol or drugs
Don’t be a dick
